Providing Care for Possible COVID-19 Patients

TRA Medical Imaging and Diagnostic Imaging Northwest are serving as a triage center for imaging during this major national crisis.

TRA Medical Imaging and Diagnostic Imaging Northwest are shifting gears to care for patients under evaluation for possible COVID-19. Starting immediately sites will only be seeing symptomatic patients (experiencing fever or respiratory symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath) for urgent X-ray and CT exams at the TRA Lakewood location.

At TRA Medical Imaging and Diagnostic Imaging Northwest, providing safe, high quality care is our #1 priority as we navigate the challenges of flattening the curve of COVID-19. By creating a dedicated imaging center for symptomatic patients needing urgent X-ray and CT exams, we intend to serve as a relief valve for hospital emergency departments that are likely to be overwhelmed. We also recognize that reducing exposure for non-COVID patients (including our vulnerable populations) at our remaining TRA and DINW imaging centers is critical to reducing the spread of infection.

TRA has allocated their freestanding imaging center in Lakewood to serve as the first dedicated imaging location for symptomatic patients. Additionally, TRA will be extending billing due dates to help ease patient stress financially during this uncertain time.

“We recognize that this will be a defining moment for our health care system and our region. Getting through this will require commitment, collaboration and all the resources we can bring to bear as a medical community,” states Douglas Seiler, M.D. TRA’s Physician President. “TRA stands with our partners MultiCare Health System and CHI-Franciscan Health as we face this unprecedented challenge together.”

Celebrate Pink This Summer

In this issue of ShowCase Magazine we celebrate summer with a “pink inspired” issue.  Summer is here and that means longer days and pink accompaniments to celebrate the season.  Whether you plan to cruise to the car show, dine al fresco or enjoy a local travel, we invite you to celebrate the season in pink.

Speaking of outdoor pleasures, have you ever taken in a pink sunset from a sailboat – where the skyline is filled with rose color as it sets on the horizon?  We are pleased to feature the historic SSS Odyssey.  Known as Tacoma’s own Tall Ship, the 90-foot sailboat is recognized nationally as a premier youth sailing vessel.

Enjoy the pink color embodied in a regional favorite, the Pacific Northwest salmon.  Chefs Tom Douglas and Thierry Rautureau will present a tantalizing taste of our favorite fish at this year’s Gig Harbor Wine and Food Festival.  We share the dynamic culinary duo’s perspective on creating dishes that speak to our lifestyle and delight the most discerning palates.

Naturally, our story on local dining and shopping fresh produce at farmers markets inspires good health and the local economy.  As follows, our wellness feature is “flush” with approachable sustainable lifestyle tips to improve women’s health.

Check out our pink calendar for local entertainment and cultural events and don’t miss the scoop on our favorite summer destinations for local travel.  We wish you a summer abundant in purposeful living and memories, some of them pink influenced, to celebrate.

Gratefully,

Determined to be the best

You will often see me and my fellow runners out in the early morning hitting the pavement to start the day, well before most people think about getting out of bed. This dedication to rise early and place one foot in front of the other takes determination and effort to go beyond the mediocre.

It’s not unlike the quest that ShowCase Magazine undergoes each year to locate those businesses in our community that shine and work to be outstanding. It is a process of editors, writers and photographers reviewing, interviewing and taking images in the pursuit to uncover the region’s BEST as it relates to dining and shopping.

In this ongoing quest to bring you clever and practical information about the region’s shopping and dining enclaves, our team is purposeful in sussing out those organizations that offer an uncommon experience, whether they’re small businesses or large establishments.

We are hereby pleased to present you with our 2013 “Best of Shopping and Dining Guide” available in ebook, Pinterest, and Facebook form at Showcasemedialive. com and of course in print. In this guide you will find a compilation of our best articles and places where the establishment goes beyond the normal to provide an outstanding experience throughout the year.

Congratulations to this year’s establishments that go well beyond the mediocre to offer our community their Best. This determination inspired us.

Kindest regards,
Robin Lucas
