Ariel Calabria, a Seattle native, started on the piano and drums before moving to the guitar. His primary teacher was his father, also a multi-instrumentalist. Upon moving to Olympia, Ariel joined local master saxophonist Bert Wilson’s group Rebirth. Ariel has continued to build and find new common ground with many local artists and musicians. His main influences and inspirations are his father, John Coltrane, Martin Luther King, Mohandas Gandhi, Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Bela Bartok, Igor Stravinsky, Bert Wilson, and Jimi Hendrix.
