You have a map, a compass, and a mission–To find all of the control markers on your map in the least amount of time, relying on your own wits. Go solo or with a group: run, walk, it’s up to you! A perfect activity to get the whole family outdoors, finding control markers is like a treasure hunt. This activity also helps Scouts fulfill some badge requirements.
Cascade Orienteering Club is teaming up with Lakewood Parks and Rec to provide special newcomer instruction and training, followed by your choice of novice or intermediate course. Please bring your own compass if you would like to use it; compasses are optional, and these two courses may be completed by map-reading alone.
Available training sessions (maximum 15 groups or individuals each): 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00
Available courses:
- Novice course between 1-2.5K
- Intermediate course between 2-3K
Participation by pre-registration only. Limited number of spots. This activity may sell out! Registration closes Feb 29th. Sign up for the “Lakewood Parks and Rec Training and Orienteering Course”.
